I recently bought myself Starcraft II, yes I bought it very late, now don’t judge. I have been playing quite alot, and I have noticed, it is worth the money I paid for it, unlike most PC games. I have been a big StarCraft for quite sometime, not a hardcore fan mind you. So this is a much-needed boost to my fanboy-ism. And since Kerrigan is my favorite character from the first one as well as this one, the fact that she is the main focus of the next expansion of StarCraft II is very appealing to me. Already much hype has been made about the new expansion, and from what I gathered, its only the start.
Heart Of The Swarm is currently in development and is set for sometime in April Of 2012. The new expansion promises additional units as well as multiplayer changes from Wings Of Liberty. The game takes place 2 years after Wings Of Liberty, while the player assumes the role of the Queen Of Blade Herself, Kerrigan., as she regains control over the Zerg Empire.
The Game begins as Sarah Kerrigan in her human form, in this form she attempts to regain her Zerg Swarm while taking down Arcturus Mengsk, Emperor of the Terran Dominion. Without Kerrigan the Zerg Have split into several fractions headed by various queens.
As it stands the plot is sounding just like Kerrigan. Wicked awesome. The overall plot of the game is shaping up quite nice, and I look forward to seeing how it ends.
As for the games units, Blizzard will be removing 3 of the units from the Wings Of Liberty, and be including 8 new units. The Shredder, the Battle Hellion, and the Warhound for the Terrans, and for the Protoss: the Replicant, the Oracle, and the Tempest. The Zerg only got 2 new units this time around: The Viper and the Swarm Host.
Having seen the new units, not in action clearly, I can safely give it a huge ass thumbs up 😀 All the units are defintly bring new hell to game. While the Terrans will no longer be able to mass Thors (haha :P), the Thor is now an Ultimate Unit, like the Mothership, they will be changing the Thor’s Function and only One will be avaible in game at a time, and it will be unable to attack air units. The Helion will now have a battle mode, making much more powerful, like the Vikings. The Zerg Ultralisk will now have a charge ability like the Zealot, where it burrows underground and bursts forward. The Baneling will also be able to move while burrowed. The Protoss Mothership and Carrier have been removed. AS well as the Zerg Overseer.
Overall the game is looking awesome, the plot is awesome and the new units are looking amazing. I could handle the fact that Zerg only got two new units, because come on have you seen those things? Overall I will be putting my money out for this game when it comes out, and you should too.
